Scavenger Hunt
2007 DAHLONEGA LITERARY FESTIVAL SCAVENGER HUNT INTRODUCTION AND INSTRUCTIONS

Welcome to the first annual Dahlonega Literary Festival Scavenger Hunt. We are very excited to present a fun and well-planned Harry Potter theme hunt. You will be using your knowledge of Harry Potter books to fill in grids. The grids will have an asterisk (*) highlighted column which will contain a clue to help you solve the Dahlonega theme questions. There is also a Word List to help you on the answers. For example, a question might ask, what is the 6 letter word for Harry's last name? You would go to the Word List and look at the 6 letter words.

We are allowing all day Saturday for the hunt. The questions and forms can be picked up at the Friday opening reception at United Community Bank, or starting at 9:30am Saturday, at four other locations, The Buisson Art Center, The Community House, The Dahlonega Visitor's Center (Chamber of Commerce), or Quigley's Rare Books and Antiques. Please turn in your finished hunt sheet by 5:30 Saturday to the Buisson Art Center front desk. You should have your name, address and contact number on the sheets in case they get torn off or separated. We will announce the winner at the Literary Extravaganza at
Dominque’s Bartini on Saturday night.

This hunt will challenge everyone. We hope it can be a fun family experience. You may use any resources you wish. Ask local residents questions about the
city or landmarks or use the computer or library for research. The Visitor's Center has many brochures and handouts which may be helpful. You will also be
given a list of local merchants who have a helpful hint for you. They will supply you with certain words from the Word List that are not used in the scavenger
hunt in any way. Once you know those words, you can cross them off your Word List and not even consider them as possible answers.

Below is a sample grid question and some actual questions from the hunt to get you started.
Prizes will be awarded for First, Second and Third Place! First place has their choice of either $100 Cash or a Signed Photograph of Harry Potter, Second place will receive the other. Third Place prize will be a Harry Potter Book.

Book and Photograph donated by Quigley's Rare Books & Antiques, located on the square.
Have fun and good luck
