Dahlonega
Literary Festival
An Annual Celebration of Readers, Writers, and Books
North Georgia Regional Book Fair
The Dahlonega Literary Festival steering committee partnered with the University of North Georgia’s Department of English and the UNG Press to sponsor a large-scale book fair—the North Georgia Regional Book Fair—in mid-September at the University of North Georgia’s convocation center. We plan for this to become an annual event. Just as our March festival does, this event had panels, presentations, and workshops—all of them featuring Regional Writers!
We sold t-shirts and tote bags for the book fair online (closed now).
· Date: Saturday, 14 September 2024, between 9am and 4pm.
· Fifty authors were present (click here for the list of writers).
· The concession stand—with plenty of tables for seating—was open for breakfast, lunch, beverages, and snacks.
· We had a full slate of Regional Writers offering presentations, hosting panels of speakers, and conducting workshops (click here for the schedule).
· A large parking garage is adjacent to the convocation center (at no cost), in addition to a large parking lot outside of the venue.
· There were door prizes and a silent auction.
An additional incentive for visitors was the Bayeux Tapestry Replica, which was on display in the upper level of the convocation center on the day of our book fair. This magnificent 224-foot tapestry is an exact replica of the original French tapestry depicting the Battle of Hastings in October 1066 and the only one of its kind in the world.
There was a table with free coffee set up near the concessions stand. We would like to thank the sponsor of this free coffee, Laura LaTourette, founder of Family Wealth Management Group in Dahlonega!
A special thank you to our sponsors who donated to our door prizes and silent auction!
