North Georgia Regional Book Fair

 

The Dahlonega Literary Festival steering committee has partnered with the University of North Georgia’s Department of English and the UNG Press to sponsor a large-scale book fair—the North Georgia Regional Book Fair—in mid-September at the University of North Georgia’s convocation center. We plan for this to become an annual event. Just as our March festival does, this event will have panels, presentations, and workshops—all of them featuring Regional Writers!

ALL the slots for the North Georgia Regional Book Fair have been taken, and we have a full list of alternates.

 

We will not be accepting any more applications.​

​

· Date: Saturday, 14 September 2024, between 9am and 4pm.

​

· Approximately fifty authors will be provided with 6’ foot rectangular tables, arranged around the circumference of the room from where they can meet readers and sell books for a cost of $50 per table.

 

· The concession stand—with plenty of tables for seating—will be open for breakfast, lunch, beverages, and snacks. More information on the menu forthcoming.

 

· We plan to have about fifteen one-hour slots for Regional Writers who would like to make presentations, host a panel of speakers, or conduct workshops. The schedule for the book fair should be posted by the end of May.

 

· A large parking garage is adjacent to the convocation center (at no cost), in addition to a large parking lot outside of the venue.

​

· There will be door prizes and a silent auction.

 

An additional incentive for visitors is the Bayeux Tapestry Replica, which will be on display in the upper level of the convocation center on the day of our book fair. This magnificent 224-foot tapestry is an exact replica of the original French tapestry depicting the Battle of Hastings in October 1066 and the only one of its kind in the world.

The genres of books that are considered for selection in the Regional Writers section include fiction (mysteries, thrillers, fantasy, sci-fi, romance, historical fiction, and regional fiction), non-fiction (history, biographies, and memoirs), poetry, travel, the arts, cookbooks, juvenile fiction/non-fiction, and young adult fiction/non-fiction.
