“The New Voice in Southern Fiction” is how a recent reviewer labeled Kay Dew Shostak. Her first Southern Fiction series, set in the small town of Chancey in the North Georgia Mountains, begins with Next Stop, Chancey.  The tenth book in the series released in May, 2022.  A new cozy-mystery series, Southern Beach Mysteries, is set on an island much like Amelia Island, Florida where Kay now lives. Her family is from coastal Carolina and the mountains of North Georgia, so she has deep Southern roots.

Kay's books focus on people finding themselves in new environments having to navigate finding friends, managing their families, and figuring out what they want to be when they grow up! Place plays an important part in her books, as it does with most Southern authors.  She explains,  "Whether it's the mountains of North Georgia or the coast of North Florida where we are frames our days and guides our lives.  Plus, living in the South just helps make everything funnier. I really like to laugh.

Kay's motto is: "I write books you can read without thinking but can't stop thinking about."
