North Georgia Regional Book Fair

The North Georgia Regional Book Fair celebrates emerging and aspiring writers from the Southeast by promoting literacy, creative writing, and community connection. The goals of the book fair are to provide a platform for regional voices, foster a love of reading, encourage future writers, and support a vibrant literary culture across our region.

We are excited to announce that the third annual North Georgia Regional Book Fair will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00am to 5:00pm! The event is a joint effort of the Dahlonega Literary Festival and the UNG Department of English.
The book fair will be held in the UNG Convocation Center, a beautiful venue with a large parking lot and a parking garage, both free. (See map here.)
Admission is free, and all events are free EXCEPT Bingo: $2 for one bingo card or $5 for three cards; all bingo proceeds go to No One Alone (NOA). The concessions stand will be open from 11:00am-2:00pm (with some special "literary" themed items--menu coming soon!). Please note that the concessions stand is cashless, so be sure to bring your credit/debit cards. Authors and vendors should take cash or credit.
The book fair will include a variety of panels by authors, presentations, two children's reading hours (one with Ellie, the Bulldog service dog, and one with Army Rangers and UNG cadets), BINGO, door prizes, vendors, and more (see schedule!).
An additional incentive for visitors will be the Bayeux Tapestry Replica, which will be on display in the upper level of the convocation center on the day of our book fair. This magnificent 224-foot tapestry is an exact replica of the original French tapestry depicting the Battle of Hastings in October 1066 and the only one of its kind in the world.
Just added--local artist Tommye Scanlin will be giving a demonstration on how to weave tapestries near the entrance to the Bayeux Tapestry!

North Georgia Regional Book Fair Policies
The North Georgia Regional Book Fair is committed to providing a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all attendees, authors, exhibitors, and volunteers. We ask all participants to help us create a positive experience for everyone.

Be Respectful: All attendees, authors, vendors, and volunteers are expected to treat others with courtesy and respect. Harassment or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

Children: Children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Photography: Photographs and video may be taken during the event for promotional purposes. By attending, you consent to being photographed or recorded.

Sales and Distribution: Only registered authors, exhibitors, sponsors, and approved vendors may sell merchandise or distribute promotional materials.

Service Animals Only: No pets are permitted at the event. ADA-defined service animals are welcome.

Safety: Please follow all instructions from event staff and volunteers and keep aisles and exits clear at all times.

Schedule Changes: Event schedules, speakers, and activities are subject to change without notice.
